Nuclear Bombs
2) Describe what you know about your topic. Without consulting anything, go to the keyboard and free write what you already know. After about a day, revisit this writing to remove unnecessary information and add details.
- Nuclear bombs are the most powerful bombs ever created by humans. These type of bombs kill anything that is around their range. Supposedly humans have created this type of bombs to protect themselves from enemies, but the truth is that this type of bombs only create grief and pain. But killing is not the only effect, even after they have exploded, they leave secondary effects. They leave radiation, and radiation makes people sick, deformed, and even causes death.
- Nuclear bombs, also known as atom bombs, releases energy from atomic nuclei, hence the name. The first atomic bomb was created during the Manhattan Project. Nuclear bombs also go through the process of fission when it releases energy. Atomic bombs have the power to destroy entire cities. These bombs also expose types of radiation extremely harmful to humans.
3) Tell what you want to learn about your topic.
- I want to learn what makes a nuclear bomb so destructive, also I want to learn more about the consequences of nuclear bombs, and last about the methods to prevent this global issue.
- I want to learn about the different effects an atom bomb has on humans and the environment. I also want to learn more about the process of making a nuclear bomb and where one has been dropped.
4) Describe the origins of your research. What sparked your interest in the topic? Why do you want to know more about it?
- Nuclear bombs are massive tools of destruction and if people do not do something to prevent a Cataclysm from happening, we might end up having a future like the people in the book “The 100” in which the only survivors after the nuclear explosion had to go the space to survive. So, I do not want a future like that, in which almost the entire human race eradicates. I want to know more about this topic because I want this issue to never happen. The consequences would be unimaginable. It would be a global massacre. That is why I want to learn more about this topic. Nuclear bombs should have never been built. They just provoke massive destruction.
- After reading The 100 by Kass Morgan, my interest about the effects of nuclear bombs sustained. Kass Morgan described the effects in detail, which I found very helpful. The fact that the human race had to travel to space to survive the extreme consequences of the atom bomb is terrifying. I want to know more about this topic because this novel made me very curious about what it would be like today if we were in the same situation. Where would we go? Would we have to go to extremes and travel to space to survive? This novel left me curious and with many questions.
5) List at least a dozen open-ended questions you have about your topic (or twenty or fifty).
- Why were nuclear bombs build?
- What is the benefit of building nuclear bombs?
- How does radiation affects people?
- Who is the creator of nuclear bombs?
- When were nuclear bombs build?
- Where is it safe place to go if people find themselves in the middle of a nuclear explosion?
- What are the consequences of nuclear bombs?
- How long does radiation affects people after the explosion?
- What is the range limit of a nuclear explosion?
- What was the Manhattan Project?
- Who lead the Manhattan Project?
- In what countries were nuclear bombs dropped in?
- What effects does the radiation exposed from these bombs have on animals, humans, and the environment?
- What organs in the human body does radiation effect?
6) Describe your plan for collecting information about your topic.
- My plan to collect information about my topic is to do extensive research about my topic. I plan to start researching about what is nuclear bombs, after that search the consequences of it, and last plan a solution.
- I plan to research the different effects nuclear bombs have on humans (and what organs are affected), animals, and the environment. I also plan to research who created the first atomic bomb and what countries were affected by one.
